CHAIRMAN'S SPEECH

If you want to find the secrets of the universe, think in terms of energy, frequency and vibration.

Nikola Tesla • Scientist & Inventor

Electricity and Electronics are some of the fastest-developing technological fields in our country and the world and constitute the basis of computer technology. It is the most important legacy of the history of human science, with its theoretical foundations dating back to before Christ and the mathematical expression of physical events since the early 1600s. Applying theoretical electricity to practical life, which started in the early 1800s, has reached the present day with an avalanche-like development process. In this process, introducing wired and wireless communication into our lives is the most critical application. The most important milestones of these dazzling developments are the use of the first transistor in the late 1940s and the invention of the first programmable computer in the same period. Developments in energy, robotics, informatics, aviation, and space largely depend on developments in electricity and electronics, and these technologies play the role of attractive force.

As OSTİM Technical University Department of Electrical and Electronics Engineering, we want to take our place in this rapidly developing technology race. In this context, as a university that flourishes and grows in the OSTİM Organized Industrial Zone (OIZ), we aim to make significant gains to the Turkish economy and technology with the students we train in electricity and electronics and the research projects we carry out.

We aim to provide an unconventional and universal Electrical-Electronics Engineering Education that aligns with Turkey's needs. While working towards this goal, our most important support is OSTİM OSB, which got us through. It is not a coincidence, but the natural result of the process, that we share the goals of OSTİM OSB, which has served as a locomotive for Turkey's entire industry, especially the defense industry, for decades, for the Turkish economy and technology, and that we train Engineers focused directly on the sector.

Although we are a young university, we are ahead of many universities with the rapid equipment and laboratories we established. With the on-the-job training we provide at the end of each semester throughout university life, we enable our students to apply the theoretical knowledge they have gained into practice and prepare them for the industry. In this context, our protocols with more than 650 companies are the most critical indicator of OSTİM OSB's support.

Our curriculum, prepared in line with the needs of our country and the curricula of leading universities in the world, aims to raise strong students in electronics and electricity. Our students receive excellent theoretical and practical training in high voltage, power electronics, communication, control, signal processing, and embedded systems. Additionally, specialized courses in avionics systems, radar and electronic warfare, RF, antennas, and infrared prepare them as industry-ready engineers. Our academic staff stands out with their education abroad and at respected universities in our country, their high scientific research performance, and their experience and determination to provide a good education.

We constantly review and renew our training curriculum to reflect industry demands and technological developments. We strive to provide our students with on-the-job training at the end of each semester in companies with which we have a protocol so that their knowledge does not remain only theoretical but is reinforced with actual practices.

We welcome you to our Department of Electrical and Electronics Engineering at OSTİM Technical University, which was established with a new understanding.
